Opening Celebration and evening gatherings

On Wednesday afternoon, at our Central Camp Cauldron, with a lens, we will use the sun to start a fire that will burn throughout our gathering. This same flame will light the Man on Sunday night. Every evening, as the sun sets behind Granite Mountain, we will welcome the Night with dance and drums.

MIDNIGHT MASS

The Supreme Committee of Interstellar Bicycle Travel sends its red-caped representative, M'SHUGGANAUT, across the galaxy to instigate this year's cycling adventure: An all-human-powered bicycle ride, to start just before midnight in Central Camp and proceed to the Burning Man. Meet the New Moon with glow sticks, weird blinking lights, noisemakers and costumes. Sister Kitty will perform a Blessing of the Bikes on Friday, at 11:30pm. Be sure to arrive on time!

Big BANG Fashion Show

Our 6th Annual Fashion Show! Face it -- you'll need for more than a purple shroud to make it to the next century. Why not bring your latest creations to the Big Bang Fashion Show at Burning Man? Whether you've joined the mad rush to start your own cult, of are just rocking and rolling and reveling in the eternal mysteries, this is your chance to show the world the hot new looks we'll need to get through this lifetime -- and maybe the next. Dress yourself in garments from your favorite planet, costumes from the cult du jour, or futurist/future-tech fashions. Sashay on stage and give the audience an eyeful of the greatest display of funkadelic fashion ever! As always, goddesses, high priests and extraterrestials are welcome!

JAVA COW

The Java Cow, awash in a wave of popularity, has promised to make time for us amid its busy schedule of guest appearances at Shopping Malls and U-Serve Car Washes. This legendary bovine will appear upon the playa at sunrise on Sunday (check the Black Rock Gazette for details). Bring your favorite coffee cup to receive a ritual libation.

PLAYA TAROT BOOTH

Get a Tarot card reading with Ed Buryn, creator of the William Blake Tarot of the Creative Imagination, at his van-camp. Open 1-5 pm each day, more or less. "What is now proved was once only imagin'd" -- Wm. Blake.

CACOPHONY COCKTAIL PARTY

Join late Sunday afternoon (after the Fashion Show) at the Cafe in Central Camp, for the Cacophony Society's annual cocktail party. Formal attire de rigeur. Bring libations and drinking accessories to share, and while away the last daylight hours with the best company in town. Presided over by your gracious hostess, Miss P.

COMMUNITY DANCE

Mother Earth meets Outer Space! Participate in our cosmic trance dance party on Sunday night after The Burn. Communal and gallactic. All aliens welcome!
