From Reno, Nevada, take Hwy I-80 east for approximately 30 mls. Take the Wadsworth/Pyramid Lake exit #43 to Hwy 447. Go one mile to Wadsworth and turn left, staying on Hwy 447 north. It's 75 mls to Empire, NV where gas and supplies are available. Continue 3 mls. to Gerlach where gas is also available. From Gerlach, go northwest one mile to the fork. Take the right-hand fork, Hwy 34, and continue 17 mls. to Burning Man.
WARNING: The road to our encampment is your only access to the playa. There are no other routes. The Bureau of Land Management has declared an off-road closure in this area. Anyone attempting to enter the playa off-road will be subject to substantial fines. Furthermore, the margins of this lakebed and the private property surrounding it are extremely hazardous -- ribboned with quicksand and underground springs. The nearby town of Gerlach no longer offers a towing service. Mired vehicles may remain stranded for days or weeks. Do not attempt trespass on this land. Do not park along side Highway 34. The Nevada Highway Patrol will ticket any vehicles that are parked by the roadside.
