Burning Man 1997 | Planning Your Theme Camp

Things to think about when planning your theme camp:

  • All ropes and supports must be clearly marked with bright flags for dark nights, tent stakes must be capped.

  • Build very strong structures. Winds come from all directions at the new location, and there is high potential for storms, wind, rain, hail, and dust devils.

  • Bring insect repellent. Fires will be restricted and organized. Please look for detailed information in our the Survival Guide.

  • The Burning Man Camp layout is 180 degrees in contrast to last year's 360 degree circle. Theme camps will be located along the playa facing the Man.

  • There will be a parking lot near the main road. You are asked to leave as many cars as possible in the lot. The only vehicles allowed to move during Burning Man will be the cars in the lot. Please plan to keep your camp clear of vehicles for aesthetic and safety reasons. Plan to pack gear in the few vehicles that will comprise your camp. Remember: This is our community, everything we do to contribute to making it better allows us to have a better Burning Man experience, please consider this when planning your camp!
