My girlfriend brought home a fist sized hunk of mud from the hot springs to use for facials. This last weekend she broke off a piece to smear on her face and, what the hey?, there was a quarter in the middle of the hunk! It had become tarnished by the mineral content of the mud and looked very interesting. So if you were the one who lost that quarter in the mud, then we found it... unfortnately we were ONE quarter short of finishing our laundry... so it's gone now... but I just thought you'd be interested in knowing what happened to it. -- SPURT radio, January 20, 1998 at 10:52a
In the remotest of chances that you might have found a roll of 200ASA 35mm film in the general vicinity of the "house of doors" (we were the rocket lift camp). The film bearing photos of the Critical tits parade and a very exotic beauty named Poliane plus other things I cannot for some reason recall - the roll was shot the day & evening of the burn. I'd love to have this film, negatives, or at least the satisfaction of knowing I really did shoot that roll. Nobody around here wants to hear me whine about having lost the film anymore . Anyone find a scuba knife in the brush(in the middle of the playa we never had this problem) just north of the entrance road along the port-o's betwee9n 1st and 2nd street? It was usually sheathed on my combat boot,alas to find it missing after a bike ride in my sarong...~~the VERY reflective holographic mt.bike w/studpuppy with the awesome abs...and not a bit of shame!~~ There's just way too many predators in the 'real' world to be without it... Our RV was possessed at burning man '97 & we were without power,so in a stupor I lugged an oil wheel lamp(looks like a spotlight but projects 60's colored oil bubbles on a screen)out to the desert where SF band NothingButTheFacts had an installation. I've contacted the band & they left it with the folks at the Blue Light District Fashion Show. Sometime early Sunday morning during the circus/rock act performance the occured at the bicycle recycling facility my email impared friend lost his bike. Somehow it went out exploring on the playa. If you happened to see it or offered it a place to stay please return it with no questions asked and possibly some sort of reward given. It is a red cannondale and my friend hasn't been the same since misplacing it. I think he was distracted during the bottle rocket episode or it may have been during the f-ing chicken song. A soul from Camp Callipygos has lost Happy. Happy has been described as a blue Murray one speed women's frame bicycle. Happy was lost sometime on Saturday night in the madness that followed Idiot Flesh on the main stage. If found Krishna would bless you a thousand times. ROLL OF FILM LOST AT THE BURN If anyone found a roll of film in a clear plastic container out by the site of the Burn, it might be the one belonging to a friend of mine. When I left the playa on Tuesday, September 2, there were still many items in the lost and found at Ranger Headquarters, including: about 8 bicycles of various makes, cameras, backpacks and wallets. Provide a complete description and reliable contact information and if your description matches an item being held we will contact you. Many people turned things in to the Lost & Found service at Ranger Headquarters, where they where retreived by many grateful owners. I lost a lens shade for a FED stereo camera. It is black plastic and cone shaped, about 1.5 inch diameter. I also lost the camera case, it is made of thin black vinyl and looks junky. Late Sunday night my bike mysteriously peddled itself from camp while I was asleep. It goes without saying you shouldn't sleep at Burningman. I looked around on Monday, but to no avail. On Saturday night I lost my Black Beret with two embroidered Celtic Beasts and a harp pin on it. It fell out of my sack out on the playa when I was reaching for something else. It was constructed in honor of Orpheus, that ancient shaman and musician whose music charmed the beasts, among others. I'd love to have it back. -- Daniel C. Lost/stolen... My backpack was stolen during the night of the burn. Many things are comming back to me (except for the money in wallet), but still gone are a samsung slimzoom camera... it is silver in color, and zooms to 115mm. it is a "medium priced" camera... it's not a professional camera, but has some good features, and 2 rolls of exposed film (one was in the camera), mostly of the burn. i lost a role of 1000 speed kodak film. the role had a photo of a woman holding a burning man marionette, a photo of larry harvey being interviewed, and a picture of 3 people dressed in goth among other pics. if you found this role, i would really love to have it back! in a twist of karma, i found a role of 400 speed kodak film. it has pictures of a pig and a picture of tricia's rv campsite. if this is yours let me know. see you next year. -- horse, September 13, 1997 at 11:28p
Hey, I um, seem to have lost a .....ah....source. Yep, it's gone. Anyone find a small round disc about the size of a $.50 piece? It should have a small yellow & purple 'radioactive material' sticker on it. It's a 125 millicurie sealed source of Cesium 137. I taped it under my bicycle seat each time I locked the thing up so's to become the agent of someone's karma should they steal it.
